Fringe Star Sees Double For New Season

Posted on July 25th, 2010 by Darcy

There have been some great doubles in TV history over the years; Patty Duke and Spock come to mind. So what’s it like for Anna Torv, star of “Fringe,” to add to that tradition?

“It’s been really fun,” Torv told CNN on Friday at San Diego Comic-Con. The parallel world version of her character, Olivia Dunham, introduced at the end of last season, is impersonating the “real world” Olivia.

“I want to play her a little bit more,” Torv said, “but now that she’s back I don’t know how much of her we’re gonna see.”

Olivia’s fight with her double in the finale made for one of the most memorable scenes in the show’s history – and as one might imagine, it was complicated to shoot.

“The scene was really tough because we did a split screen so you had to make sure you don’t go past this invisible line,” she said.

As for Peter and Olivia finally “going there” in their relationship at the end of last year, Torv thinks that Olivia would want to pursue a romance – that is, if she ever escapes the parallel world. “I think when Olivia said to Peter, ‘you belong with me,’ I think she really means it.”

And the show seems far from done with all of the intrigue that having two of everything brings: “It looks like we’re going to find out more about that other side.”
