Happy Fringe day folks! Make sure to watch live!

Who are the Observers? What is their purpose? And do they do more than just observe? Well, tonight’s episode of “Fringe” seeks to answer at least some of the lingering questions about the bald-headed, condiment-loving characters and just what role they will play in the upcoming episodes.”The episode that we actually do have coming up us one of my favorites,” Anna Torv told MTV News, referring to tonight’s episode, titled “August.” “We sort of get to meet the Observers. At the moment what we know about them, they… seemingly just observe. That’s kind of it, but [in] the episode that we have coming up, we’re not sure if all they do is just observe.”

Torv went on to surmise that, based on one past experience with the Observers, things aren’t exactly what they seem. Yes, that means they don’t JUST observe. “We also know one of them saved Walter and Peter when they were in car accident… so we know they can interfere. I don’t know if that’s connected to– we have all our own theories because we’re on the show. I don’t know if that’s got anything to do with what’s happening between the two universes… I’m not sure.”

If you think that Torv may know anything more than that, you are wrong. “And we had this… Observer that we met, the strange bald guy [named] September, and we have an episode coming up called ‘August’ with a character in it called December. So we kind of get a little of an idea of who these people are,” she said.

“I love Michael Cerveris, who started off playing September, [he] is just such a beautiful actor and I think he created a cool, mysterious, sort of– you don’t know what world they’re from and who they are and are they robots? We get a couple answers soon.”

On the season finale of “Fringe” last spring, fans were surprised to find out that the actor behind the elusive Dr. William Bell was none other than Leonard Nimoy of “Star Trek.” And with season two under way and just as many questions going unanswered about Massive Dynamic and the parallel universe, it seems there is still a place for Nimoy to return and leave Olivia Dunham just as confused as he did the first time around.

“I think so, yeah,” Anna Torv, who plays the stoic Detective Dunham on the Fox series, said when asked if Nimoy would be back. “This is the thing too: I don’t know and I don’t know if we’re going to meet. … It depends on if we end up seeing Walter from the other side and who that character is.”

And along with wondering about the possibility of another Walter Bishop (John Noble’s mad scientist and former Bell associate) comes the possibility that there’s another William Bell wandering somewhere around Dunham’s own universe. “Then I keep thinking, is there another William Bell?” Torv mused. “The Bell that we’ve met is the one from here who’s stuck over there. I don’t know.”

With so many questions left, Thursday night’s episode seeks to perhaps answer a few, especially when it comes to the sometimes creepy, always elusive Observers.

“At the moment, what we know about them … they seem to just kind of watch everything,” she explained. “They seemingly just observe. That’s kind of it. But the episode that we have coming up, we’re not sure if all they do is just observe.”

She went on to explain that in fact they’ve already proven that they can do more than just that. “We also know one of them saved Walter and Peter [Joshua Jackson] when they were in a car accident … so we know they can interfere.”

Secondly, AOL

As full of mysteries as ‘Fringe’ is, you’d expect the Vancouver set to be on serious lockdown. It’s not (we managed to get an invite to play without even begging), but that doesn’t mean the show’s stars aren’t totally cagey when pressed for details.

Anna Torv — who plays CIA agent Olivia Dunham, the tortured target of so many experiments gone awry due to having been poked and prodded as a child — is particularly good at dodging questions. But, of course, that doesn’t make her any less lovely.

We caught up with Torv in the lab set, her home away from home, to get the scoop on The Observer, the return of William Bell (Leonard Nimoy) and what she thinks Bizarro Olivia might be like. “One little choice, or one little thing, and everything sort of changes,” Torv says of one of the show’s greatest twists, the introduction of an alternate universe. “So, do we meet Olivia? And is she just this soft, gentle, happy mom?”

That’s hard to imagine, considering we’ve mostly only seen tough gal Olivia. But Torv promises that a love interest for the Olivia in this world isn’t out of the question either, even if she has been burned so many times. “I don’t think she’s bitter — I think if she’s to have [a relationship], it’ll be like an escape.” What else does Torv want to see for her character? “I want to start wielding a sword!” Yeah, I don’t think any fans would complain about that.
